Weekly Classes: 2025-2026 Event and Class dates here

Busy Monday Class Nov 23_edited.jpg

Weekly classes are held on a Monday evening at the Oak Grove Chapel, 70 Catton Grove Road, Norwich NR3 3NT and are led by qualified and experienced RSCDS instructors.  See 2025 Flyer.

There is free parking and you need to bring soft-soled shoes to wear (not trainers) and your own refreshment. Wear comfortable, loose clothing and, since you can get quite warm when dancing, it is advisable to wear thin layers rather than one thick one.

The evening is divided into  three sessions:

The first session, starting at 6.30pm until 7.15pm is for beginners /improvers only and introduces them to the basic dance movements and formations as well as simpler dances.

A short break between 7.15pm and 7.30pm allows other members to join the group and everyone participates in a second, short session from 7.30pm until 8.00pm, at which time, the beginners/improvers session ends.

The third session, from 8.05pm to 9.30pm is for more experienced dancers to enjoy social dancing and to learn and practice a variety of dances, often in preparation for forthcoming dance events in the area.  Beginners progress to the third session when the instructors believe they will be able to cope with ore complex dances.

Classes are held every Monday, except Bank Holidays, from early September to December (Autumn Term) and then early January to June (Spring/Summer term) and new people can join at any time (though the best times are at the beginning of the two terms - in September and January).   See Classes and Events 25/26

If you would like to join our classes, please contact Secretary with any questions or for more information. Please let us know when you would like to come along so that we can expect you. You can be assured of a warm welcome, and there is no charge for your first class.  Please click on this the link to see the RSCDS New Members Pack open in a fresh window.

Membership Fees

The first session for beginners/new dancers is free!

Thereafter, in their first year, new dancers pay a small, annual, Norwich Branch Membership fee plus Branch class fees per term, which cover the cost of the weekly classes and instruction.

Fees may be pro-rata for those joining mid-term.

In subsequent years, in addition to the Norwich Branch membership and class fees, annual membership of the RSCDS parent organisation is also payable.    For more detail on Fees and Classes see Fees 25 26
